As we looked outside our rental house we saw the earth covered in a perfect uniform sheet of ice. Perfect. This would happen on the day we are planning to leave. I tried to estimate how much time it could possibly melt. I didn't have that much fear about not being able to leave my house, after all, this is Oklahoma, and the winter sun here has a way of melting things in a blink of an eye. Besides, we had to do a last few touches on the house and then we could be off. For my husband and I this wasn't the first time we had gone off to travel but with having a 1 year old you tend to look differently at things. The house we had lived in for the past five months was bought at an auction by some people we know and we decided to do some renovations for them for rent. We refinished the floors, added tile in the kitchen, painted each room, built a coffee/dry bar. It was definitely one of the hardest things I have had to do in my life and that makes it all the harder to leave. I definitely appreciate everything I learned in that house. Before I closed the door I took one last look at everything and I am content.
The first stop on the trip is to my grandparents house in Arkansas. I get to visit family who haven't seen our daughter Teagan and I will keep you all updated on which coffee shops I plan on visiting.
